The 4x4 Activities

As the club name indicates there are many different interested groups all flying under the one umbrella. An when I say flying some of the rally /petrol heads should have become aircraft pilots cos some of em spend more time in the air than on terra ferrma more ofthat later.

What it means to own a 4x4

Every one has there own idea about what it is to own and more importantly drive upwards ofthree ton of industrial grade horsepower. The club has always promoted the responsible and professional use of all motor vehicles, to promote and improve the public's perception of motor enthusiasts and no more so within the 4x4 branch of the club. It is only a matter oftime before government legalisation and environmental guide lines are enacted which will place huge impositions on all motorists as where and how we enjoy our recreation, before that time comes we will have shown through good example, professionally organised and monitored events that we are responsible and considerate petrol and diesel heads.....!!!

Events

We want everyone who has a 4X4 to join our club. If you own a 08 pick up that you drive for work, or have built a mad max thunder dome monster we have a competition or event to test your metal. Its about learning through participation. Only lately we ran the Irish Challenge for show room class and extreme vehicles and the showroom class was won by first timers. Primary classes that are catered for are Showroom, Modified and Extreme. Many of our events are run for charity and last year through our efforts we were able to purchase and deliver an Ambulance to the Chernobyl Children's Project

Its not just about driving either, our competitions require team work, teams of two vehicles are a must, driving is a small part ofthe game as navigation skills are required, logic and problem solving. Young Scott below accompanied the, current All Ireland over all 4x4 champion Brian Berkery and had a great first experience. Ok so we get it wrong some times as the pichlre below shows but who doesn't.
